HUAWEI P20 SERIES: FULL CAMERA REVIEW

PART 5: VIDEOS

Videos on the mobile platform have seen its share of updates and upgrades. From increase in resolution to better stabilization, things can only get better.

The P20 and the P20 Pro is capable of super slow motion video capture with its upgraded sensor. At 960fps (frames per second), you can record popping a balloon, water splashing around or any fast moving action you want to slow down. Other examples that you can definitely try: people jumping, hair splash in the pool or at the beach, pouring water, spinning a coin on any surface or even moving traffic.

Stabilization on the P20 Series flagship phones are a combination of OIS and AIS. Huawei claims that the AI-assisted Stabilization (AIS) provides smoother and more stable capture. Just like most phones available in the market, the 4K UHD and 60fps video resolutions have very little to no stabilization. Relying on the OIS still has its limitations.

A near perfect capture: quality in resolution and quality in output would probably be like a full-featured camera or video camera just like what we see in the movies and that of DSLR's and cinema cameras. But for a mobile phone or smartphones in general, capturing very steady and less shaky videos right out of your pocket especially in the most random and unpredictable moments... priceless.
